The Church in Usulután, El Salvador

Current Progress

Proposed Plan
Poverty in El Salvador
Poverty in El Salvador is a persistent issue, with many citizens facing limited access to education, healthcare, and employment opportunities. With an average income of only $300 per month, most families struggle to obtain even the most basic necessities. Contributing factors include economic inequality, violence, political instability, and the lasting effects of civil war.

In El Salvador, the harsh realities of poverty often lead many to seek escape through drugs and alcohol. What they truly need is the hope and transformation found in Jesus Christ! That’s why we’re partnering with Pastor Valmori Zelaya to help build his new church—a place of healing, community, and lasting hope.

About the Pastor

Valmori Zelaya is a native citizen of El Salvador who gave his life to Christ after a tumultuous upbringing in poverty. After being mentored by godly men, Valmori realized that God had called him to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ in his home city of Usulután.

Valmori’s church started by meeting in a personal home. However, the church expanded so greatly that the congregation could no longer meet there. Whenever they had sufficient funds, they would meet in a rented hotel space.

It was at this point that Jill and Joy met Valmori on a mission trip with their church. Feeling called to further the kingdom of God in El Salvador, Jill & Joy Ministries have partnered with him to begin the construction of his own church.

How You Can Help
Valmori’s church currently has enough funds to finish building the first floor. However, they still need funds to build the second story. Would you prayerfully consider donating to this cause?

Cost of second story: $13,670
Cost per square foot: $11.35

For every $11.35 you give, you bring the church one square foot closer to completion.
